Samsung Electronics Develops First 70-inch LCD TV Panel

Samsung Electronics Develops First 70-inch LCD TV Panel

Features Full HDTV Specifications
World’s largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, has developed the first 70-in
ch LCD panel for use in the consumer TV market. Currently, the largest LCD TV screen size is 65 inches in diameter.

Executive Vice President Kim Sang-Soo of Samsung Electronics said, “Our new 70-inch LCD is not only significantly larger, but also sets a new benchmark of excellence in terms of video image reproduction, viewing angle and image quality. We’ve designed it to dramatically enhance the large screen LCD TV user’s viewing experience. ”

Samsung’s latest LCD panel boasts full high-definition resolution (1080p) and a conical viewing angle of 180 degrees for multi-viewing audiences. In

addition, its video signal is reproduced at 120Hz, compared to a video signal of 60 Hz for a conventional Full HD LCD panel, enabling rapidly moving video images to be reproduced with crystal clarity.

Samsung bolstering its position in the ultra-large-screen TV segment. With the introduction of the 70” LCD TV, the company will be in a position to compete head-to-head with PDP (plasma display panel) and projection TV makers.

JVC full HD LCD televisions

A new line of JVC full HD LCD televisions- 37-inch LT-37X898, the 42-inch LT-42X898 and the 47-inch LT-47X898 featuring the company’s second generation high-speed LCD technology was announced today. The new flat panel sets feature JVC’s Clear Motion Drive II technology with a 120 frames per second (120Hz) frame rate, double the typical rate, to deliver crisp fast action images. To further enhance performance, JVC’s CMD II TVs use a 10 bit IPS LCD panel, which renders more than one billion colors for rich, natural color reproduction, provides natural gray scaling and provides 64 times smoother gradation than does an 8 bit panel. Each set’s sound package includes MaxxAudio, a suite of five psychoacoustic DSP technologies that compensate for the limitations of small speakers. The sound package also includes a 20-watt amplifier, JVC’s Twin Oblique Cone speakers, Advanced Hyper Surround Plus, and JVC’s Smart Sound maintains a constant volume level as content changes (such as from program material to commercial). All three JVC LCD TVs include three HDMI v1.3 inputs, one RS-232 interface, one PC input, one Smart Video input; two component inputs, one S-Video input, three AV inputs, one optical digital audio output and one fixed audio output. Specifications include a contrast ratio of 2000:1, 4.5msec response rate, 500cd/m2 brightness, and a 178-degree viewing angle.

A universal remote control is included with each set, offering direct selection of five different video inputs. JVC’s new Clear Motion Drive II LCD TVs will be available this month as part of JVC’s new Procision series of premium-level products to be sold through a select group of dealers. The 37-inch LT-37X898, the 42-inch LT-42X898 and the 47-inch LT-47X898 will sell for about $2,100, $2,600 and $3,300, respectively.

Portable DVD Player Concept

PDP or Portable DVD Player act as a DVD player by twist opening the candybar like shape and inserting your favorite DVD.

Designer Yeon-shin Seung says he plans to use Sony's full-color flexible organic electroluminescent display on this device because of the screen's thin and lightweight form factor. Here's hoping that he doesn't use the ancient DVD format is a playback medium, eschewing that old fossil for a dual-format Blu-ray and HD DVD player.

Dell SP2008WFP LCD Monitor With Webcam

Dell has released the SP2008WFP, its first desktop LCD monitor with a built-in webcam. The camera also has an unusually high 2-megapixel rating, allowing it to capture stills at 1600x1200, though video is likely to be much smaller. The display itself, measuring 20 inches, has a native 1680x1050 widescreen resolution. Its brightness is a relatively standard 300cd/m2, but it has a high contrast ratio of 2,000:1, and an extremely low response time of 2ms. The viewing angle is said to be 160 degrees.

The housing is an atypical silver color, and houses ports for DVI-D and analog video, as well as four USB devices. Dell is now selling the display, which costs $289 or a monthly amount falling as low as $9.

The Sony Drive XEL-1 OLED TV

There are two things that captivate you when you see the new Sony Drive XEL-1 OLED TV. One, that it has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and two, that it is just 3-mm thin. The 11-inch TV features a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, terrestrial digital tuner, 2x 1W speaker, HDMI, USB, and Ethernet jacks. It measures 287 x 140 x 253-mm and weighs 2kg (3.3-pounds). Sony Drive XEL-1 OLED TV is about $1,740.

LG 32PC5RV world's smallest plasma TV

LG announced its first 32-inch plasma TV, the 32PC5RV, This flat panel TV is an affordable solution for buyers looking for plasma TVs in a small size ranges where LCD TVs are dominant. The 32-inch LG 32PC5RV wide flat panel TV is the fastest growing segment in the industry, as the large-size market is becoming saturated. The LG 32PC5RV's 16:9 aspect ratio screen makes it ideal for watching high-quality sources such as DVDs without eye fatigue. With a 0.001 ms response time, the 32PC5RV can keep up with the fastest moving action movies and sporting events. Once home, it is easy to connect devices such as DVD players and home theater systems to the TV’s HDMI or component ports, as LG’s SIMPLINK technology makes it easy to control an array of compatible devices with a single remote control.

Even though producing this smaller plasma TV was challenging both technologically and cost-wise, LG was able to keep costs low and quality high by simplifying the manufacturing process. LG trimmed costs further by reducing packaging to the point where they can ship two of these TVs in the same space it used to take to ship just one.

Sharp AQUOS P Full HD LCD-TV's

Sharp introduced a completely new line of LCDs designed equally for computers and TV watching. The AQUOS P series is designed as much to sit on a desk as in a living room and is one of the first HDTV lineups to offer full 1080p video at small sizes; the 22-, 26-, and 32-inch sets all display up to 1920x1080 using either DVI, VGA, or one of the two available HDMI inputs. An integrated digital TV tuner and two 5-watt speakers allow the sets to operate independently of any outside device but can be used with a picture-in-picture mode to let users run a computer while keeping track of a TV show.

While input and resolution remain the same for each LCD, contrast ratios vary between 1,200:1 for the 22-inch display and 2,000:1 for the top 32-inch model. Sharp is initially releasing the AQUOS P in Japan with the country's proprietary D5 video input as well as support for HDCP-encrypted videos through DVI and HDMI.

Iiyama ProLite touchscreen LCD monitors

Iiyama has announced a new lineup of touch sensitive monitors for desktop computers. The offerings consist of the 15" ProLite T1530SR, the T1730SR, and the T1930SR, all of which connect either through VGA or DVI, and support USB and RS-232 for the touchscreen interface. The new ProLite screens use a 4:3 aspect ratio and come in either a black or white bezel. The 15-inch model supports a typical 1024x768, featuring a 16ms response time, while the 17- and 19-inch versions are rated at 5ms response, with a resolution of 1280x1024. Contrast ratio for the displays is measured at 500:1 for the 15-inch, and 800:1 for the larger models.

The touch-LCDs are advertised as being compatible with both Macintosh and Windows-based systems, an offer a full set of on-screen controls. Iiyama offers the Extensive Touch Utilities to allow for 4-point calibration of the touch area with either nine or 25 point linearization, and the displays can be viewed in either landscape or portrait modes. Prices for the displays sit at £330 ($700US) for the 15-inch model, £350 ($750US) for the 17-inch, and £400 ($850US) for the 19-inch version.

Humax LCD TV: Modern screen technology, retro looks

No matter how cool it is to hang a super-skinny flat panel on your wall, virtually every LCD or Plasma television is looking like the same, nondescript rectangular box. So it’s good to finally see that somebody out there is thinking a little outside of that box.

Humax TV by Tej Chauhan

This new design for a Humax LCD television was envisioned by UK industrial designer Tej Chauhan. Combining the curvy lines of an old 1950s television with the modern technology of today’s flat screens, the set is a real stunner.

LG 50 PS 8000

This plasma TV's tuner is significantly less powerful than the Panasonic's: The LG only accepts DVB-T and analog cable. The display panel has full HD resolution and is THX certified. Thanks to 100-Hertz technology, the screen is supposed to be flicker-free.

The practical connectivity includes four HDMI inputs and two Scart sockets. For headphones, however, there's only a wireless (Bluetooth) connection, which requires a corresponding Bluetooth headset. In terms of multimedia, this model is ahead of the TX-P 50 G 10: Via USB, the LG PS 8000 plays back videos, photos, and music.

Philips 5000 series LCD TV

Categorizing the 5403-series TVs as entry-level panels is an understatement, given their promising specifications. Although they are the lowest-end models in Philips' LCD TV stable, their future-proofed full-HD resolution, high 30,000:1 dynamic contrast and blazing-fast 5ms response time are far from humble. What you do have to live with is their color reproduction capability which is limited by a down-to-earth 8-bit panel. Nonetheless, you do have the benefit of In-Plane Switching (IPS) screen technology renowned for delivering exceptionally wide viewing angles.

For affordability, you'll have to settle with Philips' basic HD Natural Motion (HDNM) and 2005 Pixel Plus 2 HD video engines. A step-down version of its flagship Perfect Natural Motion processing, HDNM minimizes image judder and blurring by interpolating image frames from 25 to 50 frames-per-second. To further reduce cost, the 5403-series lacks other value-added extras ranging from onboard multimedia playback to xvYCC support. Nonetheless, it features the powerful 30W digital amplifier, with matching "invisible" rear speakers found in the 7000-series.

Samsung UN55B8500

Samsung UN55B8500: 55-inch 1080p LCD TV with LED Backlight

The detailed specs for the UN55B8500 from Samsung:

  • Display: 54.6-inch S-PVA TFT LCD
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Contrast Ratio: 7,000,000:1 (dynamic)
  • Frequency: Auto Motion Plus 240Hz
  • Connectivity: Internet@TV, DLNA, USB (2), Info Link, HDMI (4), Component, Composite, Ethernet, VGA
  • Adjustability: Swivel (Left/Right)
  • Dimensions: 52.1 x 34.0 x 12.1-inch (w/stand), 52.1 x 31.4 x 1.6-inch (w/o stand)
  • Weight: 77.6-lbs (w/stand), 61.7-lbs (w/o stand)
  • Price: MSRP US$4,499.99

The UN55B8500 is a 55-inch LCD TV from Samsung sporting edge-lit LED backlight technology to make it really thin, just 1.6-inch. If you are thinking of putting a large LCD TV on the wall and making it as flush as possible to the wall, something like Samsung’s UN55B8500 is a must. The resolution is a requisite 1920 x 1080 with a motion-blur-busting 240Hz frequency called Auto Motion Plus.

The 55-inch ultra-thin LCD TV has a lot of connectivity options, but I would like to see Samsung work with Netflix and others instead of doing its own thing. Four HDMI connections should help connect all of your digital video sources. The dynamic contrast ratio is rated at 7 million to one but that’s just marketing. The best way to see if it is any good is to go to a store where they have it installed in a dark room. It will be hard to find but well worth it since the dark environment will show you how good the UN55B8500 really is in terms of contrast

Samsung LN32B460

You'll be surprised at the big, bold colors that this 32" LCD HDTV delivers. Its images are lifelike and crystal clear. The picture quality is sharp. And action scenes look like they should--with smooth motion. The classic black bezel also has a new twist--the bottom bezel and neck are transparent, creating a more modern look. Enjoy your favorite movies and TV shows in bright, vivid color with this SAMSUNG LCD HTDV.

Sharp LC40LE700UN 40 inch LED Full HD 1080P Resolution with 4 HDMI inputs

ERVIEW - Sharp lc40le700un 40 inch LED Full HD 1080P Resolution with 4 HDMI inputs:

With the introduction of the LE700 Series, Sharp combines its legendary AQUOS LCD panel technology with a newly developed, proprietary Full Array LED backlight system to create picture quality that is second to none. The LC-40LE700UN again illustrates Sharp's LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharp's UltraBrilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no mercury and lower power consumption. At the same time, the new X-Gen LCD Panel utilizes an ingeniously devised pixel design that permits more light to pass through even while minimizing light leakage, with the result being the deepest black levels that AQUOS LCD TVs have ever achieved. Overall, the LC-40LE700UN shows that with Sharp, it's not just LED, it's AQUOS LED.
FEATURES - Sharplc40le700un 40 inch led full hd 1080p resolution with 4 hdmi inputs:

* UltraBrilliant LED system includes a unique "double-dome" light amplifier lens and multi-fluorescents, enabling high brightness and color purity. The system features full array of LEDs evenly dispersed behind a diffuser, resulting in more uniformity.
* Full HD 1080p X-Gen LCD Panel with 10-bit processing is designed with advanced pixel control to minimize light leakage and wider aperture to let more light through, providing the industry's highest contrast level (Spectral Contrast Engine MC).
* 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced for the ultimate in fast-motion picture quality.
* Wide Viewing Angles. Sharp AQUOS LCD TV viewing angles are so wide, you can view the TV clearly from practically anywhere in the room.
* AQUOS LINK enables convenient control of AQUOS Blu-ray Disc players.
* AQUOS Net delivers customized Internet content and live customer support via Ethernet, viewable in widget, full-screen or split-screen mode.
* High Brightness (450 cd/m2). AQUOS LCD TVs are very bright. You can put them virtually anywhere – even near windows, doors or other light sources – and the picture is still vivid.
