Categorizing the 5403-series TVs as entry-level panels is an understatement, given their promising specifications. Although they are the lowest-end models in Philips' LCD TV stable, their future-proofed full-HD resolution, high 30,000:1 dynamic contrast and blazing-fast 5ms response time are far from humble. What you do have to live with is their color reproduction capability which is limited by a down-to-earth 8-bit panel. Nonetheless, you do have the benefit of In-Plane Switching (IPS) screen technology renowned for delivering exceptionally wide viewing angles.

For affordability, you'll have to settle with Philips' basic HD Natural Motion (HDNM) and 2005 Pixel Plus 2 HD video engines. A step-down version of its flagship Perfect Natural Motion processing, HDNM minimizes image judder and blurring by interpolating image frames from 25 to 50 frames-per-second. To further reduce cost, the 5403-series lacks other value-added extras ranging from onboard multimedia playback to xvYCC support. Nonetheless, it features the powerful 30W digital amplifier, with matching "invisible" rear speakers found in the 7000-series.

Asus Designo MS Series Ultra Slim LCD Monitors

Asus unveils its new Designo MS Series ultra slim LCD displays that measure just 16.5mm thick. Asus Announces VH192C/VH196 LCDs

Asus has prepared new LCD monitors . These are the VH192C and the VH196 and they are both part of the Green line. They will save about 20% of power consumption in case you wanted to live your life eco-friendlier. The LCDs will offer you the Aspect Control technology which delivers a 4:3 aspect ratio or full screen playback. The VH192C will also bring the Color Shine glare-type panel to the table which means enriched image color density and saturation and an improved image clarity.

The UN55B8500 is a 55-inch LCD TV from Samsung sporting edge-lit LED backlight technology to make it really thin, just 1.6-inch. If you are thinking of putting a large LCD TV on the wall and making it as flush as possible to the wall, something like Samsung’s UN55B8500 is a must. LCD TV

Liquid-crystal display televisions (LCD TV) are color televisionsets that use LCD technology to produce images. LCD televisions are thinner and lighter than CRTs of similar display size, and are available in much larger sizes as well. This combination of features made LCDs more practical than CRTs for many roles, and as manufacturing costs fell their eventual dominance of the television market was all but guaranteed.



In 2007, LCD televisions surpassed sales of CRT-based televisions worldwide for the first time, and its sales figures relative to other technologies is accelerating. LCD TVs are quickly displacing the only major competitors in the large-screen market, the plasma display panel and rear-projection television. The XBR9 series is actually the replacement for the XBR6 Bravia TVs from 2008/2009. Confusingly, the XBR8 series is Sony's LED LCD with local dimming and the highest feature set and price point of the Sony TVs on the market today. Upgrades in the XBR9 from the XBR6 are 240Hz rate compared with the previous 120Hz rate and an upgrade in the Bravia Video processing Engine to 3rd edition. Aesthetics were also changed to give the TV a streamlined look. We took a hard look at the picture quality performance and features of this new XBR. See our results below.
